About the Webinar
Florida mediator Judith A. "Judy" Bass, along with plaintiff's attorney Rosalyn "Sia" Baker-Barnes, defense attorney Michael Brand and claims professional Steven Adler, will discuss, from their varied perspectives, why a deliberative selection process should be utilized on a case-by-case basis and what factors should be considered and weighed in selecting the appropriate mediator.
Attendees will be entitled to 1.0 Continuing Legal Education credit for attending the Webinar, scheduled for noon Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, via The Florida Bar.
Judy Bass has been a full-time mediator -- with more than 3,000 mediations -- for 12 years. She delights in facilitating settlement efforts.Prior to her career as a dispute resolution professional, Judy was a trial attorney for 25 years. She joined Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation Group in 2013.
Sia Baker-Barnes, a shareholder with Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley, P.A., focuses on pursuing justice for victims in personal injury, medical negligence and product liability cases. In her career, she has achieved many multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements, including her most recent $20 million verdict against tobacco giant RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co.
Michael Brand, a partner with Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A., practices across all fields of litigation, including medical malpractice, premises liability, legal malpractice, property damage claims, automobile, construction, trucking claims defense and others. He has tried over 100 jury trials to verdict in his career.
Steven Adler, owner of Melsar Risk Management Services, Inc., for 13 years and longtime insurance claims professional, represents insurance companies and clients at mediation, arranges for employees to take part in mock trials and oversees litigation management for his firm.
