Early Mediation Anyone?

In general, the benefits of mediating a dispute to a successful conclusion are greatest when done early.  In meaningful cases, since success is only possible when the process is engaged and allowed to progress, why not mediate when costs are lowest and the benefits of resolution can be realized soonest?  Thomas Jefferson may have thinking about mediation when he said," Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today".
