Words of Wisdom

We have all read the articles discussing which words have been overused and should be banned from adult conversation for the foreseeable future. After the hurricanes of ’04 in Florida, Floridians voted to remove the term “hunker down” from the English language. Recently there has been talk of removing “bailout” from our vernacular. Now it looks like local governments too are jumping on the bandwagon.

The Local Government Association in Great Britain wants to add its two cents worth by adding such terms as "best practice,” “challenge,” “outsourced,” and many many more.

Looks like the public sector trend may be to return to simply calling a spade, a “spade.” As our lives and these times are complicated enough, I am “all in.”
