This webinar features Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediators Scott R. Schomber and Michael A. Weiss, who draw upon decades of combined experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation.

The program examines practical strategies that improve the effectiveness of mediation advocacy from both plaintiff and defense perspectives. Topics include preparation before mediation, early case development, evaluation of liability and damages, insurance coverage and settlement authority, effective presentations during mediation, negotiation techniques, strategic use of the mediator, and approaches for overcoming impasse.

Through practical guidance drawn from extensive mediation experience, attendees will gain tools to better prepare clients, negotiate effectively, and increase the likelihood of successful resolution.

Scott R. Schomber

Scott R. Schomber’s unique background as an advocate for individuals, insurance carriers, and businesses allows him to understand and respect the viewpoints of all parties at the mediation table. A Florida Supreme Court certified circuit civil mediator and qualified arbitrator, Scott couples his insight with 30 years of litigation experience to assist parties in reaching resolution and thereby avoiding the uncertainty of going to court.

Michael A. Weiss

Michael Weiss has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator since 2015 and is adept at helping disputing parties develop options for resolution. Mike began his career defending personal injury and medical malpractice claims on behalf of insurance companies, corporations, physicians, hospitals, governmental entities and business owners. In 2005, Mike represented only injured plaintiffs until becoming a full-time neutral.
