Mediation Firm Teaches Negotiation Advocacy, Ethics to Corporate Counsel.

On February 15, 2005, Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation Group hosted a Continuing Legal Education Seminar and cocktail reception for members of the Central Florida Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Firm principals Lawrence M. Watson, Jr. and Michael S. Orfinger, with mediation panelist Michelle Jernigan, in a panel format, presented the 3 hour seminar at the Maitland Center Hotel Orlando North, consisting of two titles: "Mediation Advocacy; Effective Legal Representation in Mediation: how to use the mediation process to gain optimal results for clients" and "The Right Way To Do The Right Thing ; Ethical Issues in Settlement Negotiations - how to negotiate zealously without crossing ethical boundaries."

 

Established in 1996, the mediation group of Upchurch Watson White & Max ( www.uww-adr.com ) maintains offices in Daytona Beach, Maitland/Orlando and Miami, as well as Birmingham, Alabama , and mediates cases nationally and internationally. Their Mediation Advocacy Seminar Series was launched in June 2004. In an effort to educate and promote best practices and guidelines for the practitioner regarding the mediation process, the firm provides law firms and colleagues with continuing legal education opportunities on a variety of ADR issues. Members of the firm?s Speakers Bureau have been requested for presentations throughout the United States . In addition, the firm sponsors regular complimentary 1 hour seminars at both their Daytona and Maitland office locations.
