With four decades of experience handling complex civil disputes, Stephen B. Sambol brings to mediation a substantial background in commercial litigation, professional liability, health care and medical malpractice matters. A Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Mediator since 2014, Stephen combines his litigation and trial experience with a practical understanding of the business, professional and personal considerations that can influence resolution.
Throughout his legal career, Stephen has represented individuals, businesses, physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, health care providers and other professionals in a broad range of sophisticated disputes. His commercial litigation practice has included complex business matters, contracts, insurance and other issues affecting companies and their operations. His health care practice has encompassed the representation of physicians and other providers in medical malpractice claims, as well as regulatory and disciplinary investigations and proceedings.
Stephen’s professional liability experience extends beyond health care. He has handled matters involving other professionals and has advised clients on issues involving corporate directors’ and officers’ liability, attorney malpractice, insurance coverage, cyber-liability and technology-related professional liability. His broad practice has given him experience evaluating disputes involving technical subject matters, complicated business relationships and significant financial exposure.
Stephen has been active in professional organizations throughout his career, including the Business Law and Health Law sections of The Florida Bar, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and Defense Research Institute. He also has been involved with the Professional Liability Defense Federation, including chair of its Medical Committee, vice-chair of its Cyber Liability Committee and has served as a moderator and speaker on professional liability, risk management, and medical malpractice topics.
