The CLM Annual Conference, featuring more than 80 collaborative educational sessions and keynote presentations designed by industry professionals, will be at the Boca Raton Resort, 501 E. Camino Real, from April 9 to 11. Mr. Tetunic's session, "Mediating High Severity Claims: Creative Approaches and Tactics for Successful Outcomes," will begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10.

He will be joined in the discussion by Daniel Santaniello of Luks, Santaniello, Petrillo & Jones; Dan Tadrowski of Tower Hill Insurance Group, LLC; Cathy Zwaan of United States Liability Insurance Group; and Thomas Abbott of avisbudget. Pressure on businesses to reduce legal costs will make this session valuable to attendees, conference organizers say.

"The panel will consider various vehicular accident scenarios, viewing short accident re-enactment video animations (wrongful death; back surgery causation and pre-existing; significant comparative negligence)," the roundtable description says. "The panel members along with claims professionals will dissect effective and ineffective mediation tactics used in each scenario by Defense counsel. Conversely our panel and participants will make suggestions on how to address the issues and proceed with negotiations."

Participants also can look forward to guidance on "caucus strategies, figuring out the bottom line and sharing insight on reaching the mediator." Mr. Tetunic will provide best-practice tips, and the panel will explore negotiating tactics, including extraordinary tactics like ex parte lien resolution.

Mr. Tetunic has mediated more than 6,000 cases in South Florida since 1994, specializing in personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance claims and construction litigation. He joined the Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation Group as a shareholder in November 2013. Prior to his mediation career, Mr. Tetunic was a Shareholder at Becker & Poliakoff where he was a trial attorney handling both personal injury and construction defect matters.
