Sandy Upchurch, mediation counsel with Upchurch Watson White & Max, rises to the bench as the sole qualifier to replace retiring Circuit Judge Terry LaRue in Florida's 7th Judicial Circuit. The circuit is home to more than 580,000 registered voters and encompasses Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns and Volusia counties, according to the "Sandy Upchurch for Circuit Judge" campaign website.

Michelle Jernigan, a shareholder with Upchurch Watson White & Max, plans to present a seminar titled "Your Client's Brain in Mediation" for the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers in Orlando on Friday, April 4. Ms. Jernigan has done extensive research into her topic and believes it is important for attorneys to understand how their clients make decisions. She will give seminar attendees a look "under the hood" at the workings of the human brain in various scenarios. The 50-minute program, which will be delivered at a luncheon meeting, has been accredited by The Florida Bar as intermediate-level Continuing Legal Education, good for 1.0 hour of general CLE credit.

CPR, the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution, has published an article on mediating in probate by Michael S. Orfinger, a principal of Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation Group, in the March issue of its “Alternatives to the High Cost of Litigation” newsletter.
