Ana Cristina Maldonado is a full-time mediator and arbitrator and a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (NADN). A Florida Qualified Arbitrator since 2020, she has served as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator in Circuit Civil, County, Dependency and Family since 2010 and has mediated over 2,000 cases.
Cristina is passionate about the field of dispute resolution. She is a primary trainer approved by the Florida Dispute Resolution Center in the areas of Circuit Civil and Family mediation. Cristina is regional co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section’s Women in Dispute Resolution (WIDR) committee. She is the Treasurer of the Florida Bar ADR Section and the founding chair of the Section’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. In 2020, the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court appointed her to the Mediator Qualifications and Discipline Review Board (MQDRB).
Before becoming a lawyer and a neutral, Cristina spent seven years as a Program Manager, administering a $22 million budget, a 15-person team of employees and contractors, two international field offices and field operations across nine countries. She played a key role in strategic planning, procurement, human resources management, contract administration, budget monitoring, and reporting results on multiple contracts and deliverables. The contracts she worked on provided regional technical assistance on labor, employment and workplace safety policy and capacity building in Central America.
Whether she is working on a family dispute or a commercial case, Cristina’s mediation philosophy is to meet people where they are and work with all sides to try to build a better way forward.
Cristina has a B.S. from Amherst College, a Master's in Conflict Resolution from George Mason University, a J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
Cristina has experience with both two-party and multi-party cases, and extensive experience with cases involving self-reresented (pro se) parties. She is available both virtually and in person to provide mediation services throughout Florida and beyond.
