Alan C. Espy was a civil trial lawyer in South Florida for over 40 years before becoming a mediator. Based in Palm Beach County since 1983, he has handled a wide range of cases throughout the region.

Alan spent the first half of his career working as an insurance defense lawyer and the second half representing injured people in personal injury and wrongful death cases as well as working extensively on insurance coverage cases and a broad range of commercial litigation and probate litigation cases.

As he joins Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation Group, Alan leverages his broad experience as a civil litigator to help parties resolve complex disputes.

Alan was originally board-certified as a civil trial lawyer by The Florida Bar in 1992 and has been recertified six times. He has long held an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating for legal ability and ethical standards from that prestigious organization.

As a further testament to his expertise and reputation in the legal community, Alan has been consistently listed in Best Lawyers in America® and Florida Super Lawyers®. He was chosen by Best Lawyers in 2024 as its “Lawyer of the Year” for insurance litigation in the Palm Beach County area.

Throughout his career, Alan has demonstrated a deep commitment to professionalism and community engagement by involvement in organizations supporting the health and welfare of children.

Alan enjoys golf and running and has completed major marathons in Chicago and New York City.
