recently chaired the public launch of the Upchurch Watson White & Max Family Business Mediation Group, with a symposium for business advisors. The presentation, "Succession, Governance and Wealth Management Deliberations", held at the firm's Maitland office, was attended by over 30 business advisors from the fields of law, accountancy and financial planning.
The Family Business Mediation Group, initiated by
John Upchurch
, one of the firm's founding partners, seeks to work with the family's legal and financial professionals in the prevention and resolution of family business disputes. The process will promote healthy family deliberations about money, succession and governance. The Family Council and Family Business Mediation are two special strategies espoused by Mr. Lord and Ms. Jernigan to navigate the family business through potential problem areas such as passing the business on to the next generation, preserving family relationships, and protecting the future of the family business.
