Scott Baughan has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator since 2005. In 2017, Scott transitioned to a full-time mediation practice after a 25-year career in civil trial practice.
Over the course of his trial practice, he has handled many hundreds of litigated matters, including numerous jury trials, arbitrations and appellate proceedings as lead counsel. Scott’s experience includes representing both plaintiff and defendant in hundreds of mediations for tort cases ranging from death and catastrophic injury to soft tissue injury, with a heavy concentration in medical malpractice cases.
Similarly, Scott has litigated numerous employment, federal civil rights, insurance disputes and complex commercial and construction cases, including specialized health care related litigation. He has also handled numerous anti-trust matters, billing disputes and practitioner credentialing issues.
Scott has found this chapter of his career, which included serving as mediator on a number of occasions, to be a clear demonstration of what’s required to settle a matter efficiently and effectively, outside of court.
He is a Florida native, born and raised in Cocoa, and understands the various dynamics unique to the state.
