UWWM Principal Kimberly Sands to Speak at WIND Conference Feb. 2-3

Mediator Kimberly Sands at Windstorm Insurance Conference Update: Ms. Sands, second from right — along with fellow attorney faculty members Donna DeVaney Stockham (from left), Gerald Albrecht and Finley T. Harckham gave their presentation at the Windstorm Insurance (WIND) Conference in Orlando earlier this week. She is one of the few faithful mediator attendees and a frequent speaker at the annual conference.

Kimberly Sands, a principal with Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation Group, has been invited back to speak at the annual Windstorm Insurance (WIND) Conference and plans to tell "The Truth About Bad Faith and Extra-Contractual Litigation" for breakout sessions on days 2 and 3 of the four-day event.

Ms. Sands -- along with fellow attorney faculty members Donna DeVaney Stockham of Stockham Law Group, P.A.; Gerald Albrecht of Butler Weihmuller Katz Craig; and Finley T. Harckham of Anderson Kill -- will present "a multi-discipline, 360 degree perspective of bad faith litigation."  Organizers say the goal of the program is "to provide the attendees with the bad-faith knowledge necessary to effectively represent their clients. Attendees will leave the program with a better understanding of how bad faith affects the claims they are handling for their clients, which will lead to better results and greater success."

The presenters promise an open and interactive Continuing Education (CE) experience with constructive dialogue on a divisive issue: What is bad faith, and what benefits or detriments could it bring to first party claims and litigation? The program will include a survey of the ways different states address extra-contractual liability, "its derivation in contract, the institutional components of bad faith, and how it affects the contractual claim. Examples will be presented and discussed by experienced practitioners, who will encourage audience participation and interaction."

For more information on the conference as a whole -- at the Hilton Bonnet Creek in Orlando, Fla. -- and on Ms. Sands' sessions, scheduled for 1:30 to 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, and 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, please visit http://windnetwork.com/wind-events/conference-overview/.
